Tim,
Any deviation in the frequency of the 4 MHz oscillator will cause a proportional
error in the VFO and BFO frequencies (after doing CAL PLL and CAL FIL with a
given setting of C22 on the Control board). The VFO dial error will increase as
you go higher in frequency. I suggest you use the WWV calibration method for
setting C22, then re-run CAL PLL and CAL FIL afterward. This is covered in the
Advanced Operating Features section of the manual.
It should be possible to get the readings to within 10-40 Hz across all HF bands
if you follow the procedure carefully.
