[Elecraft] OT: Dawg Xray Club

Someone on the Elecraft list just forwarded this
to me. After months of grappling with DX using only
5W from the K1, it is apparent that what gets the DX
is not necessarily the loudest signal, but the most
patient, careful and considerate operator.

An example of how NOT to dx can be found at:

http://www.qsl.net/dl4tt/DawgX-rayClub.html

And is worth a laugh.

The link via that site to AA0MZ's SO YOU
WANT TO BE A DXer? page is at:

http://www.qsl.net/aa0mz/dxer.htm

and well worth reading. After hearing the mess on
some pileups, these tips should be printed on the
inside cover of QST each month!

(Sidenote: his point about dollar-bill collectors,
DX stations that never answer QSL requests with
money or SASEs enclosed, is interesting. The DX
Cluster search of "collector" yields EA6UN, Jurek.
Is this the same Jurek, EA6/SP4AOQ that was on earlier
this year? I worked both, never got a QSL from SP4,
even sending a SAE with stamps affixed.)

Bottom line: we already have a head-start in using
such great K1/K2 rigs -- let's all be positive operators
with them, too.
