[Elecraft] Another Idea for New Firmware

Hello Wayne!

I have been pondering the idea of passband tuning for the SSB diehards among
us (includes me :-)

If a new version of main controller PIC had enough memory, it might be
possible to allow setting up, say, 20 or more "filters" that are really just
used for SSB using the SSB board filter and offsetting the VFO and BFO by 50
or 100 Hz per "step." These filters would be enabled by setting the mode to
SSB at some particular XFIL selection, and selected by turning the KEYER
knob (not useful in SSB mode).

This would then give the SSB operators a passband tuning control. If enough
memory were available, it could also be used in conjunction with more than
one XFIL selection so you could have passband tuning as well as narrower
bandwidths.

Just thinking out loud...
