[Elecraft] Scratchy AF pot problem

All:

I'm having the classic "scratchy AF at low volume levels and
still hear plenty even when the AF gain pot is fully CCW" 
problem.  I implemented the customary fix on the Elecraft
web site, but it made no difference whatsoever.  I was quite
careful to verify the traces were indeed cut properly with an
ohmmeter (OK, a DVM).  Short of (1) spritzing the control 
with contact cleaner or (2) replacing the potentiometer, I'm
out of bright ideas.  Any suggestions?
