For the high current demands the best splice is the western union splice,
with good ole solder and scotch 33 plus tape. I have already saw two
instances of crimp type of splice failing and almost causing fire. I have
also seen ( this happened to me) the 30 A powerpole connectors fail to make
a good connection and get very hot to the point the plastic shells melted
right off, not a good thing if you should have the connection point stuffed
up under a dash or heaven forbid carpeting. I might also add the power poles
were installed properly.

here in Eu we got from Amp(erex) for carindustrie a.s.o splicers till 50
Amps
Just clip on the original wire, put the extra wire in it and clamp.
Also easy to remove and use again as single powercord.
