Ah well: where I was thinking of putting it can be seen from my operating
position if I leave two doors open. And I certainly wasn't planning on
putting it outside ;-)
And regarding your other suggestions about the VRFDET wire, I'll keep that
in mind.

I wouldn't even dream (well, maybe a nightmare) of using anything other than
a decently shielded cable: living in a densely-populated suburb makes one
very aware of all the horrors caused by unshielded gear. My neighbours on
one side have a five-computer network that can make reception quite
difficult at times...

I'll report back here soon - if customs get their finger out and clear the
KAT100. It should be here some time this week, then an evening or maybe two
to get it up and running.

No worries there: I use some stuff sold here as Aircom Plus: it's only 7mm
diameter, yet has less loss length for length than RG-213. It's also doubly
shielded - great for VHF work too, and very flexible.
