[Elecraft] K2/100 and battery

I'd be concerned with the battery's ability to put out the peak currents you
will require. The internal resistance and battery chemistry will set a
limit to how much current you can draw before the terminal voltage gets too
low.
You might try looking up the specs on the battery somewhere on the web. Who
is the manufacturer? They may have a web page you can use.
Good luck and 73,

Subject: [Elecraft] K2/100 and battery

Hi,
I plan to use a 12V 17 Ah gel cel as power suply for my future k2/100.
Calculating with 30% transmission at 20 A, using CW with 50% duty
cycle this should theoretically be good for about 5 hours of on the
air time and with a small linear charger - no hash.

But will this work in practice? Can the K2-100 function on a battery,
the input voltage going down to 10.5 or 11 volt?

One posibillity would be to put 2 12 volts batteries in series and
then use a voltage stabilising circuit to get 13.8V - but that would
give me a lot of extra heat.
