I used to have three electronics parts stores a 20 minute walk north from
where I lived. Since I have moved, the nearest place to get parts was (I
thought) Radio Shack. Several months ago I visited my local RS to get a
couple of components I needed but didn't have in my parts drawers. I was
surprised at how few parts they had compared to what I remember. RS was
never a great place to get parts (IMO) as the price for common parts tended
to be a bit pricey although some unusual IC's or parts were sometimes at
rather good prices. They were at least handy as one could usually be found
locally.

When I commented to one of the people in the store about how few parts they
had I was told that they no longer carry much in the way of parts in the
store. I was told if I wanted something other than what they had in the
store I could order it from their web site. I was left with the impression
that RS was getting out of the parts business here in Canada. Looks like
they are starting to do the same in the US.

Cheers!
