When I built my KPA100, on the test that has you measure the voltage drop
across the .005 ohm current sensing resistor, the current drawn by the PA
transistors ranged from about 10 amps to 14 amps, depending on the band,
when transmitting full power (100 watts + on all bands) into a 50-ohm
dummy load. Add the current required by the rest of the radio for the
total current drawn from the power supply (13.85 VDC in my case). I do
recall that the band where the greatest current drain occurred was 80
meters.
