Not in the least. In fact, if you think you'll ever be keying the K2 from 
an external keyer (or from software), you'd probably be well-advised to 
leave ATUO DET turned ON.

Most users will never get 'caught' by the AUTO DET feature, even if they do 
use dual paddles, but sometimes the squeeze key guys will.
