It would be interesting to know what the spec requirements would be on 
an encoder to work in the K2. I have a couple I scarfed out of an old 
Kenwood VHF-UHF mobile rig and I've thought some about them being 
replacements for my K2 if I had problems with its encoder (not that I've 
had any).
