Hi

Perhaps but there can't be much air flow through the 4 slots in the botto=
m. The only way air can get from the bottom to the top of the of the K2 s=
o it can be pulled out by the fan is by way of a slot up by the headphone=
jack then it still has to get around the control board. But if it's a pr=
oblem then design the side panels so there is about 1/8 to 1/4 inch of sp=
ace between the K2 and the KAT100 so air can flow between the cases to th=
e slots on the bottom of the K2. This would be required anyway, to allow =
clearance for the pan head mounting screws unless countersink screws were=
supplied. That would not be cost effective because the bottom panels of =
the K2 and top panel of the KAT100 would need to be replaced to fit the c=
ountersink screws. I still like the idea of having the K2/100 - KAT100 co=
nnected in one piece. I guess one could join the two together with a stri=
p of sheet metal using the lower side screws on the K2 and the upper side=
screws on the KAT100 but it would look better if it came from Elecraft i=
n matching paint and was all one piece.

Intereting idea, Don, but I suspect enclosing the bottom of the K2 could =20
cause some thermal problems with the effectiveness of the K2's heat sink.

best wishes,
