[Elecraft] PlugIn Balun for K2/Kat1 ATU

OK, aside from all the technical 'balun banter' going about, I'd like to ask
a simpler question:

Is there a reason a male BNC was chosen? It just seems a little umm...
'fragile' having to connect the balun to the K2 via a female/female BNC
adapter. I'd hate to think what might happen if it inadvertently took a
smack.

Is there anything preventing the use of a short coax jumper with a female
BNC coming from the balun case (i.e. think of a TV balun on steriods)?

Finally, how would one go about obtaining one of these kits? I didn't see an
order form on the website.
