Hi Don
I just checked my KPA100 and the circuit board is flush against the back =
panel all the way across. You may have used the wrong screws to mount the=
SO-259. The correct screws will just come flush with the nut and a small=
gap will be between the screw/nut and the circuit board. If that is all =
OK then check the ground screw mount to make sure it is mounted correctly=
. It may be holding the board away from the back panel
I also found the red wire from the center pin of the SO-259 a little long=
so I shortened it so it is just long enough to pass through T4 and down =
to the pad. Don't forget to mount RFC10 as close to the board as possible=
as shown in the errata sheet. =20

Subject: [Elecraft] KPA100 rear panel question
On page 30 of the KPA100 manual, it's stated that when propertly mounted,=
the =20
rear panel should be flush with the PC board. On the end with the Aux I/=
O =20
connector, things are perfectly flush, but on the other end, where the co=
ax =20
connector is mounted, there is a 1/16" gap between the rear panel assembl=
y =20
and the PC board. The nuts securing the SO-239 are flush with the cutout=
in =20
the PC board, however. I can't raise or lower the panel much on that end=
=20
because the center lead for the coax connector has very little clearance =
as =20
it passes through the center of T4. Before soldering the leads of J-3 an=
d =20
J-2 to the board, I would like to be sure everything is OK. Any suggesti=
ons?
Thanks and 73,
Don, W5EI
