[Elecraft] K2 - raspy receive audio?

My K2 has developed poor receive audio.
It has a raspy distorted sound on all bands 
It particularly appears to affect the higher tones
Any clues as to a cure would be most appreciated

Check the quality on your headphones, Dan. 

If it's just on speaker, check your mounting hardware. Over-tightening
the mounting screws can cause this by distorting the frame. Also a small
number of K2 speakers arrived with bent frames, causing this sort of
noise. For some, it got worse over time. The magnet on those speakers is
VERY heavy compared to the strength of the frame. 

I corrected the problem in my K2 by simply putting a wide blade
screwdriver between the frame member and the edge of the magnet and
twisted it just slightly - just enough to move the magnet slightly. I
found one spot where the rasp went away when I did that, so I twisted it
a bit further to 'set' the bend, and it's been just fine ever since.
