[Elecraft] Any benefits to a Long "Long Wire"

Ron,
Had some discussion on other lists, keep in mind telephone poles
regardless of where they are belong to the phone company.  The climbers
will cut the 'extra' stuff off if they have to climb. 

If you have a length of wire 1/4 wave up to about 1.5 that is referred
to as a random not a long wire.  The ARRL hand book goes into to this
quite a bit....

I'm not sure why you sent this to me, Chuck. 

"Telephone poles"  don't necessarily belong to the phone company. I know
a lot of ops who buy them and have them installed on their own property.
They are readily available from the telephone company or, more often,
the local electrical utility who will also install them for a fee. 

But I didn't mention doing that myself. 

Nor was I using trying to define a "length of wire"....  I mentioned
using a "doublet". Quite something else entirely.
