HI MIKE:
I'll bet you never heard the sound from or saw this model speaker.
I have been installing mobile equipment since the 55 pound tube boxes
and never heard better sound quality from a mobile type speaker.
I still remembered how I could hear so distinctly every
transmission received even when in the back of or outside the school bus I
was
installing the system in. It must have made an impression on me to remember
those facts.
That's why my interest in this particular model when it appeared on ebay.
It also has a very distinctive appearance other than a plain square box and
I never saw
them supplied with any other than the NEXTEL radio phone systems.
Maybe that's the secret of its sound quality.
I pack my K2 in a small case and the smaller the speaker the better if it
does not
effect the quality of the sound, and as I remember these are quite slim.
I hope I'm not one of the lucky ones to get one with brackets. I will be
sitting
up nights figuring out where to drill the holes to mount the brackets on my
K2.
Do you think I could retap the two top screws securing the plastic bezel to
10/32
and mount the speaker right up front. I may have a problem reading the dial
but who cares
it's the sound that matters.
Best 73 JOE

Au contraire...

Actually a couple of us pointed this list toward ebay and included URL's to
specific auctions when the subject of Motorola mobile speakers came up.
They're all over eBay and if you think you need to spend more than $5-10
bucks on one you should look around further. Just do a search for 'Motorola
speaker'

Not gonna snipe ya... No dinky 4" speaker sans bracket for me... I prefer
the 'professional' version with brackets, ala:

Or if youprefer the amplified version:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1369173924

Some might prefer the cream color to match their car interior:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1370362494

but to each his own ;)

Enjoy & 73
Mike - AD5IU
