A dual-coax feed has exactly the same loss as a single-coax feed of the 
same length. The coax is still coax -- it still has the same inherent 
loss of coax.

The only thing that may change is the feed impedance, since you have only 
half of the antenna across the coax. That would make for a different SWR 
on the coax, which would give slightly different losses.

I don't believe for a moment your observations of signal strength are the 
result of changes in your feed arrangement. The change in loss would be 
too small to be noticed.
