My 505 series Sony Viaos get about 5 hrs off of the extended battery
doing real work under linux. I could prolly get nearly 8 hrs if I dropped
the processor speed down and didn't touch the disk (ie using RAM drives or
flash cards for everything). I routinely RAM suspend the things for days.
For field use, I'd prolly just run one of the DOS based apps to a PCMCIA
flash disk. For QRP field work, tho, I'd just go with a Palm Pilot.
