[Elecraft] Loss of sidetone...

Hi Everyone-

My K2 has developed a problem which escapes my efforts to fix: In short,
I've lost all sidetone!

My K2 (equipped with all options, and Rev 2 Firmware) has performed very
well for about a year, mostly on CW, but with some occasional digital
scrolling tossed in for diversion.

A check of the Pri menu settings for Sidetone Pitch and Level shows them to
be set where they've always been set (StP = 0.66, and StL = 025). Cranking
the StL all the way to its max at 255 still produces no audible sidetone,
although I still hear the "click" which occurs when passing back and forth
between StL = 255 and StL = 0.

I get no sidetone in either the tESt or OPEr modes, even though my power
supply and TenTec Wattmeter, and the K2 RF meter all DEFINITELY show a
signal is being transmitted in the OPEr mode. The same no-sidetone problem
occurs when trying to SPOT (zerobeat) an incoming signal.

Does anyone have any suggestions for how I may have dumb-thumbed my way into
shutting off the sidetone source? I have a feeling I may have changed the
sidetone-source parameter, but at the moment I can't find the menu area to
access it. I think it was part of the Rev 2 Firmware, or may have been
connected with the KAF2 and/or the KIO2 modules, but it's been a long time
since I installed them or last saw a post about the sidetone source issue,
and my memory has gone blank.

Comments anyone?

Another spooky symptom--likely unrelated to the sidetone issue--is that the
upper HF bands (10-12-15-17-20 m), where I spend most of my time have been
REALLY spooky-quiet lately. I've been out of town for several weeks, and
the lack of signals is very noticeable compared to late March. Has anyone
else noticed that as I have here in Denver? Yes, my antenna here is still
up and intact in spite of our endless winds lately.

Tnx for your help es 73 to all.
