The K2 without a lead acid gel cell seems quite lightweight, with one it
feels very heavy. Mine (with almost all options) tips the scales at 6 lbs.
(Battery, ATU, SSB, etc). I also have a K1, fitted with four band module,
auto ATU and without tilt stand, external 10 cell pack, it weighs 2 lbs.
One down side to the K1 is the auto ATU has nothing like the capability of
that fitted to the K2. Other than the obvious band and receiver limitations,
the little K1 gives a good account of itself and is quite sensitive on
receive.
I have the Mountain Ops TacPack for the K2, but just use a cheap camera bag
for the K1.
