For what it's worth here is my experience on importing a K2 kit, with
NB, AF and ATU options, ordered November 20001.

I 'phoned UK Customs and Excise to ask about import duty and was told
there
was none except for VAT as it is all classified as 'ready made'(!) and
that I would have to pay the VAT to the postman to receive the package.

I ordered it using a credit card, total cost 903.00 U.S. dollars. When
it arrived I had to collect it from the Parceline office as the charge
was too high for a postman to collect. It cost 115.81 U.K. pounds,
109.56 VAT plus 6.25 Post Office handling charge, to collect.

VAT is at 17.5% so that means Customs regarded the full price as
109.56*100/17.5 = 626.29 pounds, for 903 dollars, a rate of 0.694 pounds

per dollar.

My credit card bill came through at 656.41 pounds for 903 dollars -- an
exchange rate of 0.727 pounds per dollar!

Total cost 772.22 pounds.

Note that if the bank had charged the same rate as the Customs, it would

have cost nearly 30 pounds less!
