My favorite battery packs:
K2 one or two day no recharge: 10 cell NiMh "A" pack 2700Ma
K2 Multiday solar recharge: 2-3 AmpHr SLA with 5-10 watt flexable panel.

K1 several day non recharge: R/S NiMh 8 cell "Race Packs" 1800 Ma
K1 Multi day solar recharge: 800-1200Ma Sla with 5 watt flexpanel

Ultra light 2 week backpack trip K1, 800 ma Sla, sox key, small light weight
5 watt panel, flex weave 40 meter dipole fed with rg174 or end fed wire with
elevated counterpoise. Everything fits in small padded pouch. SLA stays
connected to panel hung on pack, no controller needed.
