Word is that this will be fixed in the next firmware revision. It appears 
that the optical encoder will run about 5X as fast as it previously did.

'Ballistic' tuning HAS (and probably IS) under discussion, but I can't 
state where it is (or IF it is) in the 'calendar of changes' at this time.
