Just go to a hobby shop and buy a sheet of cross-stitching cloth.  It's
the very best grill cloth I've found.  It's stiff, very porous to audio,
rectangularly weaved, and can simply be pasted over the inside of the
speaker opening.  The black cloth looks great...in fact I found the
cross-stitching cloth to be better looking than some "real" speaker
grill cloth I had on hand, and a lot less expensive too.

The only problem is that for the $1.50 or less that you'll spend for a
sheet you'll have enough to do 20 or more Elecraft speakers.  

Elecraft really *should* provide a piece of this material with the
kits.  It wouldn't add a nickle to the cost of producing the kit, and it
does look so much better than seeing the speaker cone through the wide
cover slats.  An exposed speaker cone VERY MUCH detracts from the image
of quality a prospective buyer gets when he sees a stock K1 or K2.
