To charge the internal SLA battery in the k2 you need 13.8 to 14.5 volts =
at the battery. The K2 has a protection diode in series with the battery =
so the supply needs to be about 14 to 14.7 volts to charge the battery. I=
f you can increase the voltage of your power supply a little it will work=
to charge the battery while the K2 is in operation. If you set the power=
supply so the battery is charged to 13.8 volts the battery will be maint=
ained at its float level and can be left on charge indefinitely.

Subject: [Elecraft] Internal Battery Charging question
I've tried to read all of the posts and articles on charging and maintain=
ing the K2's internal battery but I am still uncertain/confused as to whe=
ther I have what is needed to properly care for the battery.
I use a Samlex SEC 1223 regulated DC power supply which has an output vol=
tage of 13.8 VDC and an output current of 23 Amps continuous/25 Amps maxi=
mum.
Will this power supply adequately charge and maintain my K2's battery?
When using the power supply should I disable the internal battery?
