[Elecraft] Using RIT

Hi folks  - 
I find it a bit frustrating to get the RIT "centered" when I want to
check below and above the freq I am about to operate on. I realize it
does not HAVE to be centered, but the last night I found myself turning
the RIT on and off quite a bit to get them both on the identical freq.
Am I just an idiot or is there something I'm missing. Please don't
answer the first question....I've answered it for myself numerous times
