Not true for Metco irons. They use an RF signal to heat a thermocouple at 
the very end of the tip -- no wasted heat, and precise temperature 
control. A 15watt iron can easily solder a penny to a copper-clad sheet.

Unfortunately, they cost many hundreds of dollars! Ouch!
