[EIDXA] New Google Group email reflector is now "live"

Hello Fellow EIDXA members,


All EIDXA club members email addresses have been loaded into the new EIDXA Google Groups email reflector and it is ready for you to use!

As you are well aware, EIDXA has used MAILMAN.QTH.NET for our email reflector for many years. It has served us well be its functionality is rather limited and at times can be a hindrance to getting information out to club members.

As discussed at the club meeting January 20th, “Google Groups” is a popular email reflector that offers greater flexibility, maintainability and functionality (and it is also free).

A “beta test group” of a few club members setup an EIDXA  email reflector using Google Groups software and has been testing it this week. One of our beta test members is also a member of another radio club that successfully uses Google Groups and provided help and guidance.

The club beta testers agree that Google Groups is a viable alternative to our current email reflector and we should switch over to this system. A big thank you to everyone that helped beta test the new email reflector!

So to use the new email reflector, simply send your club emails to eastern-iowa-dx-association at googlegroups.com<mailto:eastern-iowa-dx-association at googlegroups.com> instead of mailman.qth.net

You may want to remove the MAILMAN.QTH.NET address from your email address book and add (or replace it with) eastern-iowa-dx-association at googlegroups.com<mailto:eastern-iowa-dx-association at googlegroups.com>

The old email reflector will be retired completely in a few days so please make the necessary changes as soon as possible.

If you have a Google account, you can also access our group by going to https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/eastern-iowa-dx-association. You do not have to have a Google account to use the new email reflector! Just use it as you did the old email reflector but, of course, use the new email reflector email address eastern-iowa-dx-association at googlegroups.com<mailto:eastern-iowa-dx-association at googlegroups.com>.

You can also access the EIDXA Google group via your smart phone by going to https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/eastern-iowa-dx-association . The formatting works well on all mobile devices.
