[EIDXA] Bouvet Island (3Y0Z) financial support

Hello fellow EIDXA members,


As you probably know, our good friend and EIDXA supporter, Ralph Fedor - K0IR, has pulled together a fabulous team of experienced DXpeditioners and secured transportation and other required documentation in order to put Bouvet Island on the air in 2018. Hopefully, the propagations gods will cooperate! Their website is live and you can read all about the DXpedition and see the team members at http://www.bouvetdx.org


Bouvet Island is currently #2 on the most wanted list and this upcoming  DXpedition will be a first class operation. In addition to K0IR, two other operators are EIDXA supporters / member. Craig Thompson - K9CT and our Glenn Johnson - W0GJ will be part of the team going to Bouvet Island.


So far this year, EIDXA has provided limited financial support for a few smaller DXpeditions but holding back our support dollars from both the Tom Hise fund and the club funds waiting on "The Big One". We need to decide the level of funding we want to provide the Bouvet Island DXpedition prior to October 1 in order to use the remainder of our FY2016 funds. Our by-laws allow us to spend up to $1,000 per FY from the Tom Hise fund with matching funds from the general EIDXA funds. We have used $425 from the Tom Hise fund in FY2016 so we have $575 from that fund to use before October 1.


I would like to propose three levels of financial support and get members feedback on which level we should provide the Bouvet Island DXpedition from our FY2016 funds. Please provide me with your recommendation no later than September 1 so we can easily meet our October 1 FY2016 closing date. Also, remember this has no impact on what we can donate from our FY2017 funds after October 1 to other DXpeditions.


Proposal #1: $500 from the Tom Hise fund with $500 match from the EIDXA general funds for a total of $1,000 donation

Proposal #2: $500 from the Tom Hise fund with $250 match from the EIDXA general funds for a total of $750 donation

Proposal #3: $250 from the Tom Hise fund with $250 match from the EIDXA general funds for a total of $500 donation
