Subject: [ArmyMARS_Region7] Info Bulletin
Date: Mon, 08 Aug 2016 19:58:19 -0500

Members,
Please share the following info bulletin to your local ham clubs so we can
up our county status reports for this exercise.

YOUR HELP IS NEEDED, August 15th, in a national exercise of the Military
Auxiliary Radio System (MARS). Army and Air Force MARS operators will come
to selected amateur radio VHF frequencies to check whether the utilities
are working your county.

This request for your participation comes from MARS Region 7, which
includes Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska. However, this is a national
exercise and all regions will be active. Emergencies do not recognize
borders, so if you hear a call within your VHF network or HF, please
assist.

During daytime of August 15th, MARS operators using their Amateur Radio
call signs will make hourly calls on VHF & HF frequencies including 60
meters.

All hams are welcome to participate. If you would like to assist, let us
know what county, frequency and time would work best for you. We will send
out your information to members in your area for VHF contacts. Email your
information to email address below.

MARS operators are hams who maintain a high-tech back-up radio
communications network for the United States. For more information, or to
join MARS, contact the included email address.

Respectfully Submitted,

Jodie Rouse, KDØLDE
Region Seven Public Affairs Officer
Army MARS
