The Arthur Collins Legacy: A Culture of Innovation
Premiere Showing of a New Documentary Video
This short documentary, premiering here in its first public showing, was two years in the
making. It aims to provide unique insight into Arthur Collins, founder of the Collins
Radio Company, emphasizing the remarkable culture of innovation he created there.
Narrated by Iowa broadcasting personality Cary J. Hahn, the film features the people who
knew him best - including his eldest son, Michael Collins, who will also introduce the 24
The one hour program will start at 7:30 PM, Friday, October 9, 2015 in the Coe
College Sinclair Auditorium. It is open to the public and admission is free. Rarely seen
artifacts, representing key innovations from the Collins Radio Company, will be on
display and a question and answer session will close the program. This is a special
opportunity to see and hear about the legacy of Arthur Collins and the company he
created with its tremendous impact on the growth and economy of Cedar Rapids and the
State of Iowa.
This video documentary is the first in a planned series to tell the story of the man who
shunned publicity, yet created one of the most advanced communications and avionics

memory of Arthur A. Collins and the significant contributions he made in the world of
communications, aerospace and defense technologies. The AACLA works to promote
education in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)
through the legacy of Arthur A. Collins to inspire and teach future generations.
