[EIDXA] Clublog Leader board yes or no

Interesting comments. It seems to depend on a number of factors. Without
any supporting data I believe that any encouragement of making a large
number of band and mode contacts hurts the chances of poorer equipped
stations trying for ATNO's or additional band/mode contacts. The exception
would be a very well equipped DXpedition with a smart strategy and good
operators along with a long time frame and great propagation. If they are
begging for contacts all the time on all the bands, they have saturated the
market!
EP6T might be an example of the mirror image situation! I know I had great
expectation for that operation having EP confirmed on just 20 and 15. They
were on all of the bands but I just couldn't hear them and others report the
same. I could have worked them on 20 but have that on both modes. I tried
to work them on 17 where I heard them twice with weak signals--no luck. I
sure didn't blame my poor showing on the Leader Board--being in the Midwest
probably had the most to do with it or my own poor station or operating
techniques. Poor in that they didn't get the job done. People on both
coasts had a dozen or more slots filled. I'm not aware of anyone in Iowa
doing that but a station like NR0X or N0NI would have had the best chance.
Like I always say, if you don't like the US politics, move to another
country. If you don't like the Midwest propagation, move to a coast! A
cheaper alternative is to bitch!

The Chiltern DX club (England) has a nice article in the January 2015 issue,
about whether the ClubLog leader board feature is turned off for a
DXpedition improves the percentage of uniques or not. Analysis was done for
about 30 recent DXpeditions having both leader board turned off for some and
on for others. Conclusion, it has no statistical impact ! There seems to
be many other factors that influence percentage of uniques.
