First, I'd like to thank everyone for the votes they have sent so far. ?The support has been almost unanimous in favor of making a donation. ?

But a few people have also brought up a valid point. ?The current bylaws for the Tom Hise DX Fund state that we can donate $1000 per fiscal year to fund DXpeditions. ?If we vote to give $750/750, that means we are burning 3/4 of our allotment from the Tom Hise fund in the second month of the fiscal year, and we have other DXpeditions like?3Y0 (Bouvet) and EP (Iran) on?the horizon.?

Terry W0AWL suggests that we lower the Navassa donation to $500/500. ?Of course, this would also require a separate vote. ?
?Thoughts and opinions?

Hello everyone,

 

The feedback I've gotten from the Navassa funding proposal has been very
supportive. I have given our treasurer the go-ahead so donate $500 to the
Navassa DXpedition, and to match it with $500 from the Tom Hise DX Fund.  If
anyone feels the need to see the E-mail votes that have been sent to me, I
will be happy to provide them for review, but it is pretty clear to me that
this was the right course of action.

So I'm getting into Packet a little.  Specifically, I'm playing with A
Kantronics KamPlus.  I've discovered that the firmware chip is outdated, and
I have obtained the latest firmware in the form of a .BIN file.  My next
task would be to find an AM25C010 emrom chip to burn, and find a burner to
do the job.   While I've had quite a bit of fun playing with PIXACE chips,
this is all new and uncharted waters for me, and I'm wondering if anyone can
help me out in locating the proper tools without breaking my wallet.

The QSL design was finished and cards were ordered today. I am not sure 
if they will arrive before christmas, but for sure we should be able to 
send them in January next year. If you still didn't request for your QSL 
card, please go to our OQRS on our homepage. You will find it on 
http://oqrs.lagunaria-dx-group.org/.

And we uploaded our logs of VK9DLX and VK9LM to the Logbook of the World 
last week. So you should see your QSOs confirmed there. If not, just let 
us know.

I set myself a goal of completing a DXCC on the HRD Log with the new Flex
6500 before the DX contest started.  I got the job done tonight and am
working on 9M6XRO on 10m for #101.  He's about 6 above the -134db noise
level on the vertical.  I'd never have heard him with anything else and he
probably can't hear me, but it's fun trying.  Thanks to Greg and all the
guys in Austin for an absolutely fantastic radio!
