In the Amana Room in Iowa Hall. Program: XR?ZR DXpedition video, provided by W3ACO. A new restriction from Kirkwood is that no outside food or drink may be brought into the meeting room. They both came from the same thunderstorm cell. The pictures are from about 6 miles away for the Reinbeck tornado and 4 miles away for the Traer tornado. NWS reported that the Reinbeck tornado was on the ground for about 3 miles, the Traer tornado for over 6 miles, and both were F1. The relatively small thunderstorm cell and lack of rain made for perfect viewing so there are lots of pictures and videos on the web. These pictures document what I saw and was reporting via relay to NWS. https://plus.google.com/photos/109409616902710332166/albums/6033695791625307761?authkey=CJ76-Ym398mYOw 73, Glenn - KD0Q From ww0e at q.com Thu Jul 10 19:18:19 2014 From: ww0e at q.com (Jerry Rappel) Date: Thu, 10 Jul 2014 19:18:19 -0400 (EDT) Subject: [EIDXA] =?utf-8?q?K=C3=98IS_in_August_QST_-_page__92=2E?= Message-ID: <143182883.452760.1405034299474.JavaMail.root@md17.quartz.synacor.com> From ww0e at q.com Tue Jul 15 15:12:57 2014 From: ww0e at q.com (Jerry Rappel) Date: Tue, 15 Jul 2014 15:12:57 -0400 (EDT) Subject: [EIDXA] July EIDXA newsletter In-Reply-To: <001f01cfa05d$628093b0$2781bb10$@nr0x.org> Message-ID: <558638555.506562.1405451577605.JavaMail.root@md17.quartz.synacor.com> Sorry for the late issue, problems here. http://eidxa.org/Newsletter/archived/2014/Jul2014.pdf Jerry WW?E From k0cf at mchsi.com Thu Jul 17 22:43:37 2014 From: k0cf at mchsi.com (K0CF) Date: Thu, 17 Jul 2014 21:43:37 -0500 Subject: [EIDXA] Reminder: Eastern Iowa DX Association July Meeting Message-ID: <003c01cfa232$13c0f130$3b42d390$@mchsi.com> Just a reminder: The next meeting of the Eastern Iowa DX Association will be tomorrow, Friday July 18th at 7:30 PM, in the Amana Room in Iowa Hall on the Kirkwood Community College campus. (The Amana Room is the same room that we have used for our last few meetings.) The program will be the video of the XR0ZR DXpedition from last November. How to get to IOWA HALL: It is best to take the South Entrance road to the campus, off of Kirkwood Blvd. Go past the radio towers, then turn left into the parking lots near the Mansfield Center, #20 on this map: http://www.kirkwood.edu/maincampus An aerial view courtesy of Bing Maps is here: http://binged.it/13ej1QN (Mansfield is at the precise center of this view.) Enter through the Mansfield Center door, which puts you on the 2nd floor of Iowa Hall. Go up the stairs to the 3rd floor and take a right. When you come out into the main corridor, take a left to the Amana Room. (Note that if you prefer, there is an elevator off to the right as you come in the Mansfield Center door.) I hope to see you all tomorrow night! 73, Craig, K?CF President, EIDXA From eidxa at mailman.qth.net Sat Jul 19 13:58:01 2014 From: eidxa at mailman.qth.net (Bob Lee via EIDXA) Date: Sat, 19 Jul 2014 13:58:01 -0400 (EDT) Subject: [EIDXA] Visitor Message-ID: <8D171921DB6A325-C44-776E@webmail-va042.sysops.aol.com> Did anyone speak to a young visitor at last night's meeting? Feel free to pass this on to your DX friends and clubs. "DXCC Manager Bill Moore, NC1L, was seriously injured in an automobile accident about two weeks ago.? His neck was broken, leaving him paralyzed from his upper body down, with limited movement of his arms.? Recovery will be difficult and slow, and is not expected to be total.? Bill would like to hear from his friends.? He is currently in the Mount Sinai Rehab Hospital in Hartford, but cards and well wishes should be sent to 92 Reservoir Rd, Newington, CT 06111?. Friday K5FUV, Bill Kennamer, and I visited Bill at the rehab hospital.? We spent a few minutes with NC1L, Bill, who was extremely glad to see us.? I gave him one of the ARRL Centennial Convention coins and told him how successful the event was going.? He was very happy to hear the news and the greetings from his friends.? Bill?s sister-in-law Gina was there in the hospital and asked us to tell Bill?s friends that he would love to hear from them.? So if possible let?s all show Bill our love and concern for our dear friend by sending him our QSL with good wishes.? I know Bill and the family would greatly appreciate your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
