Fred,

The process was changed in 2014 for Dayton rooms.  The hotel did not want 
a block of reservations and required that for Hamvention Weekend we pay 
for one night and that individuals had to book the room.  I can provide 
the name of the hotel, but I have no idea if there are any rooms left.

We stay at the Fairfield Inn - Dayton North on Miller Lane.  Phone is 
937-898-1120.  Tell them you are part of the Iowa Ham group and that may 
help.

I have to apologize in advance because, unfortunately out of necessity, 
I've not been too active with ham radio and the EIDXA in the last couple 
of years.

However, we received a flyer in the snail mail from the friendly folks 
(misaddressed to a different ham) at DARA this morning, and the wife 
suggested that I take my older boys (11 and 12) to the Hamvention. Shocked 
as I was for the offer, I was even more shocked that the boys seemed 
interested in actually going.  I might try to capitalize on this and see 
if I can get one or more of them licensed.  This is something I've failed 
miserably to do in the last couple of years due to lack of interest.

Are there any rooms left in the EIDXA block?  If so, I would love to take 
one.  In return I would drive again, and I'd have room for one additional 
person.

Please let me know if this is a possibility.  If not and anyone knows of 
other localish possibilities... let me know...

Steve: hell, the TS-590 only has about 8 hours on it total..   So, nope.. 
I'd like to actually use it a little first!  It's been a rough couple of 
years in the Spinner household...had a good run in 2009-2011.. but then 
it's been one disaster after another.. hopefully that'll change in 2014...
