If you use Ham Radio Deluxe with a Yaesu FT-2000, you might like this
trick..

 

The guys at HRD haven't taken advantage of the fact that the FT-2000 can
power itself on and off with a CAT command.  The FT-950, on the other hand,
is a different story. But I figured out that if you tell HRD that you are
connecting to a 950 instead, it will turn the radio on for you when it
connects.  It will also ask you if you want to turn it off when you close
the program down.  Note that I haven't found anything that doesn't work in
the control interface yet, but there may be something different between the
radios that wont work, due to a difference in commands between radios.  For
me, it's been working great so far.
