QRO for anyone interested....


I have decided to sell my *QRO HF2500* amplifier that has been sitting in
the closet, unused. I purchased it at Radio City in Moundsview but have
never used it. It's a heavy, desktop, self-contained unit and is wired for
220 VAC. Serial number 5411.

The eHam.net reviews are very favorable on this amplifier. I am unable to
comment one way or the other because I never connected it to an antenna!
Very clean, inside and out. I do NOT have the boxes for it.

I am first offering it locally, for pickup at my QTH in Chisago City or I

I've replaced my TIC ring 2100C controller with a Green Heron controller.
(This will allow the TIC ring to stay focused on a beam heading while the
rotating tower turns).
 
If anyone needs to upgrade their 2100 controller (which I also have), the
price is right for one or both....really right!    
 
The 2100C has the pre-set heading knob for hands-off control.

(same band) do not have to be the same, nor critical in spacing.   (Two

Hi all,

 

So I brought in Spencer KD0ZJE for the Rookie Roundup RTTY contest this past
Sunday.  Spencer just got his license this spring, and this was his first
contest.  I'm proud to say that the kid SMOKED it!  His submitted score is
2,325 points.  The highest score for Zero-Land  for 2012/13 is 544 points.


 

Some of you might have met Spencer at the last meeting.  He showed up and
sat in the back.  He got into Amateur Radio from the 11 meter band, and his
primary interest is working DX.

 

Watch out for this guy!

If you use Ham Radio Deluxe with a Yaesu FT-2000, you might like this
trick..

 

The guys at HRD haven't taken advantage of the fact that the FT-2000 can
power itself on and off with a CAT command.  The FT-950, on the other hand,
is a different story. But I figured out that if you tell HRD that you are
connecting to a 950 instead, it will turn the radio on for you when it
connects.  It will also ask you if you want to turn it off when you close
the program down.  Note that I haven't found anything that doesn't work in
the control interface yet, but there may be something different between the
radios that wont work, due to a difference in commands between radios.  For
me, it's been working great so far.

Oleg was the op at RI1ANF in South Shetland that was very active in 2012  A good opportunity to fill in 
those band countries.

                              We have just passed the 100 days mark before the beginning of our FT4TA operation to the island of Tromelin. Since the last official press release many things have evolved well; we are extremely fortunate.

                              Thanks to the strong mobilization around our project, we are relatively trustful in the fact of being able to gather the necessary budget. If we do not meet last minute problems, and if individual donations continue to flow at the current rate, we should balance our budget (after the expedition). Some partners have not yet validated their assistance, and we definitively count on them!

                              In addition, several people in Japan have mentioned to us they encountered problems with the Paypal button on our website. In order to circumvent this problem, we invite people who would be in this instance to use our address ( tromelin2014 at orange.fr ) directly from their Paypal account.

                              Almost all of the equipment was gathered by the team. This equipment was lent, purchased or taken from our personal stations. We want to express our thanks to Spiderbeam (masts), Elecraft (radios), OM Power (amplifiers), Microham (interfaces), Messi and Paolini (coaxial cables), DX Engineering (phasing 80m) and DX World.net, which sponsors us the Internet access by satellite to let you use our on-line logbook and read daily news from the team during the operation.

                              At the end of June, three pallets of equipment had been shipped to Reunion island. They have been transported to Tromelin Sunday (by helicopter) by the logistics service of TAAF.

                              This possibility was offered to us suddenly and was not in our initial plan. Although it induces very important expenditure, we could not let pass this opportunity because it will deeply modify the physiology of our operation. It would not have been possible for us to carry all this equipment on a small aircraft. This freighting marks the true point of no return!

                              Our preliminary works with TAAF continue. Michel FM5CD and Seb F5UFX went at the end of May to R?union to meet our interlocutors (TAAF, civil aviation, airline company). We want to highlight again the trusted relationship and the incommensurable assistance brought by TAAF.

                              2014 marks the 60th birthday of the first amateur radio activity from Tromelin. Prepared in collaboration with the philatelic service of TAAF, and drawn by an artist, a special stamp will be put on sale at the time of the Autumn Philatelic Exhibition in Paris (November 6th to 9th). During this event, an amateur radio station will be set-up on the TAAF booth by the radio-club of Provins, F6KOP. They will proceed to demonstrate and make contacts with FT4TA team twice a day. It's very important to promote our activity in such an exhibition.

                              Our website evolves constantly. The pages known as ?classical? are available since the beginning (operators, pilots, QSL manager, sponsors) and news articles appeared lately (historical, bandplan..). Others are in preparation and should be published soon (interview of FR5ZU and F6JJX, two ex-?Tromelin? operators, PowerPoint presentation..).

Yes, Navassa IS going to happen!  Letters requesting proposals came out late
yesterday afternoon to individuals and groups who have sought Special Use
Permits in the past.

Here is a press release we put out last night:


                                        KP1 Navassa Island
The KP1-5 Project is pleased to announce that the U.S. Fish and Wildlife
Service has agreed to allow an amateur radio operation from Navassa National
Wildlife Refuge (KP1).  The operation will occur within the next 18 months
and will be coordinated with the USFWS work flow.
Over the past year, the KP1-5 Project has had numerous meetings with various
levels of USFWS management.    Throughout our discussions, their personnel
have been courteous, professional and cooperative. We have been treated with
sincere interest and respect and believe that amateur radio operators may
now be viewed as partners and not adversaries.
As with the Desecheo operation in 2009, and in order to be transparent and
fair, the USFWS has requested proposals for the amateur radio operation from
those individuals and groups that have already applied for a Special Use
Permit in the past.    The KP1-5 Project will be submitting a proposal and
hoping to be selected as they were for the very successful Desecheo (K5D)
operation.
We wish to thank the USFWS for their decision to allow this operation.
Navassa Island is ranked #2 most-needed DXCC entity by The DX Magazine and
#1 by ClubLog.

We've been working on this for TWELVE YEARS!!!  

NOW, the hard part....getting a proposal together that will be selected.

NR?X farm 7734 Highway ONE 




Location: NR?X farm 7734 Highway ONE - Martelle, Iowa. Start time is around 3 PM. 

Terry ?The Brat Meister?will have the brats on the grill at 5:00 PM. 

Bring a lawn chair, silverware, paper plates, a beverage, (ice water will be provided), and 

a dish to pass.

Plus a pair of tickets to the W9DXCC convention.
