My good friend Joe Nanos, K0KES, became a silent key July 15th.  When I was 
stationed in Omaha, I was fortunate to live about 3 miles from Joe.  We 
chatted on 2M daily, and chased DX together especially after I started 
spending more time chasing CW DX.  His subtle nudging moved me from an almost 
100% SSB operator to nearly the exact opposite.  Joe was a 30+ WPM ragchewer, 
but was so afraid of the math in the advanced and extra exams, that he never 
upgraded.  He is near the top of the honor roll.  What ever cw skills I 
possess, I owe to Joe.  RIP OB.
