Ok, here's a bit more info on these things.

It is completely DEAF!
These little things are direct conversion.  In short, they are picking up EVERYTHING in their entire frequency range.  And that's a BIT range.  I suspect they are just saturated by broadcast stations.  I think that once I get the upconverter built, I can put a low pass filter on it, and that will help some.  But in the default VHF and up rig, some sore of bandpass filtering is pretty much a must have.  I can't even hear the repeater on this thing, and the beacon drives it crazy!!

Interesting that when I tune to 102.9FM, it actually tells me the name of the song playing.
