The operators also appeared to be very inexperienced managing pile-ups for
such a large DX-pedition. Quite often when they would get a partial call
(i.e., W1XY?) they wouldn't make everyone QRX until they worked the W1XY
station. Instead they would go ahead and work some Italian station that
would just keep on calling insistently. A textbook example of how to create
/ allow chaos in a pile-up. There were times when I heard them and their QSO
rate was probably around one contact every couple of minutes.
My wife (KD0HUC) worked them and they kept saying Killowat Japan Zero Hotel
Uniform Charlie and she corrected them 3 times with "Killowatt Delta...
Killowat Delat Zero Hotel Uniform Charlie but they still logged the contact
as KJ0HUC. Hopefully a note included with her QSL will fix the problem.
I assume one of EIDXA's criteria for funding a DX-pedition is the core group
of operators must have a proven track record with progressively more
difficult DX-peditions (a few gray beards in the group).

What about EU, I'm sure they did quite well. This was JA for JA and EU.
They
basically snubbed their noses at NA. It's too bad the DXCC Desk will have
to
certify the operation, since it apparently violated the DX Code by not
offering representative coverage. There needs to be a rule against
selective
DXpeditions. Propagation to NA was not the issue here. They just didn't
bother to make the effort to work us, preferring to run EU during our peak
openings. I hope the next DXpedition to Spratly remembers to take
operators.
