Minutes of EIDXA April 15, 2011



Meeting came to order by our President Steve Miller N0SM at 7:30 PM



1.      Introductions were made all around.  36 hams answered the CQ call.



2.      Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.



3.      Club treasurer reported a balance of $ 1031.31



4.      The EIDXA ARRL contests combined score was over 2.1 million.



5.      Discussion by Tom WB8ZRL about maintaining a list of former members. 
Comment by Jim, W0SR that he has records going back to the beginning of the 
club formation.



6.      No news about the repeater or cluster. All appears to be OK.



7.      The EIDXA was invited to host the W0DXCC convention in 2012 or 2013. 
There was a discussion but no decision.



8.      The Mid-West ARRL convention will be held in Cedar Rapids August 5 
and 6 at the Clarion Hotel, 525 33rd Ave SW.  ARRL President Kay Cragie will 
be the banquet speaker. Tom, WB8ZRL is asking for presentation topics for 
the tech sessions.



9.      EIDXA decided to pass on contributions to two DX expeditions T32 and 
4A4A.  There was a short discussion as to the criteria for making 
contributions.  Someone said perhaps it should be in the top fifty. Criteria 
will be collected and presented at the next meeting.



10.  Short discussion as to the summer picnic and if it should be combined 
with the July meeting. It appears from discussion we will have the July 
meeting schedules as per our by laws but there was no decision about having 
a picnic.



11.  In light of the club's effort to have our own CW Marathon contest, 
there was a lively discussion on "How to capture DX"  Panel members were 
W0NB, K0JGH, W3ACO and NC0O.  They were excellent and well received by the 
club!!
