Minutes of EIDXA meeting October 22, 2010

Meeting was called to order by Joe, KC0VKN at 7:30 PM in Linn Hall, Kirkwood
Community College.

23 Hams were in attendance.

Introductions were made all around.

Secretary's report: The minutes of the July 2010 meeting were read and
approved without correction.

Treasurer's report: Treasurer reported a balance of $830.31.

The current club roster was distributed for members to review and update as
necessary.

Joe, KC0VKN suggested members write articles for our quarterly newsletter.
Material should be sent to Jerry, WW0E.

Terry, W0AWL noted specials on clothing from Queeensboro sportswear with the
EIDXA logos.

Jim, W0SR discussed access to the EIDXA reflector.

Rich, W3ACO confirmed that the donations to VP8O and DX0DX were received and
the EIDXA logo was on both DXpeditions web pages.

Elections were held. The officers for FY 2011 are:

President: Steve, N0SM,

Vice President: Jerry, WW0E,

Sec/Treas: Rich, W3ACO

New business:

Jim, W0SR suggested an EIDXA version of the CQ marathon contest, whereby
hams contact as many DX entities as they can on any HF band using any mode
in a one year time frame beginning Jan 1, 2011. Points are earned by
number of DX entities plus number of DX zones. EIDXA members would follow
the rules of CQ magazine. Note that CQ entities are not exactly the same as
ARRL. It was suggested that we compare progress periodically among the year
perhaps through the reflector or during our quarterly meetings.

After the meeting adjourned, Rod, K0DAS gave an historic presentation about
50 years in ham radio with some very old QSL cards, nice pictures of Collins
equipment, his beginning of ham radio in Kansas, travels to many DX
locations and stories to match. A very interesting and nostalgic program. .

Thank you Rod.
