Hope everyone had a Merry Xmas, and is salivating at the chance to compete with your fellow DXers in 2011!
At the last meeting W0SR and I discussed the possibility of having a club competition around the rules of the CQ Marathon competition.
The CQ site is here:

Here are the 2010 rules:

Basically: work as many distinct DX entities as you can on any band or mode. There are two categories listed in the rules.
The proposition was for there to be a club competition where we'd (I?) would track a leader board of club competitors and provide encouragement for more activity. W9KNI has mentioned how this was a bit of a breath of fresh air into his operating, and maybe it will be that way for you too!
We had briefly discussed a team competition where bands of merry EIDXA'ers would come together to compete against one another. I think for this to happen we need to have a headcount of people who intend to participate. If you're thinking you want to do this, drop KC0VKN an email at kc0vkn at bitjanitor.net and I'll start up a list of folks.
I think that if we have enough participation and we have some time from the organizing group (N0SM, W0SR, and myself) we can come up with fun little side-trips. I had thought of a "your best month" sort of competition, since maybe not everyone can be in front of the rig 24x7 and maybe one month you'll really get a lot of DX'ing in, and another you won't.
Either way, it'd be nice to have some prizes for some leaders, so if you've got something that'd be fun there, let us know, and please think about participating, I think this could be a lot of fun; it'll be like working a new-one all over again!
73,
Joe KC0VKN (very unhappy about his return from PJ7--the last white stuff I was in I walked around barefoot..)
