Yesterday the entire C6APR team was tragically killed in an airplane
crash. On board the twin-engine Piper PA-23 were pilot W2GJ/C6APR (ex
WN3TXL, W3TXL, W2DIQ), Peter Radding, of North Charleston, SC,
K3IXD/C6AXD, Edwin F. Steeble, of Summerville, SC, K4QO/C6AQO, James
R. Hargenrader, of Summerville, SC, and W3PP (ex K3WUW), E. Dallas
Carter, of Laurel, DE. Three of the team (W2GJ, K3IXD and W3PP) were
members of the Potomac Valley Radio Club. They departed early
yesterday morning and were headed to Crooked Island, Bahamas via Fort
Pierce, FL. The plane crash took place just after they cleared the
runway at the Summerville, SC airport. Our thoughts and prayers go
out to all of the families and friends of the C6APR crew. In the
April 2009 online edition of World Radio there is a nice article with
photos of three of the C6APR ops. You can see it at
www.cq-amateur-radio.com/wr_back_issues.html and by clicking on April
and selecting pages 1-13. Today's issue is dedicated to W2GJ, K3IXD,
W3PP, and K4QO.
