Hey everyone,

I'm not sure if this came through EIDXA reflector, so I'm forwarding
it along.

Joey and his father were at the last EIDXA meeting and have submitted
applications for membership.

I'm waiting to hear for certain about the status of the room at
Kirkwood, but, I believe the October meeting will be the first Friday
in November (6th). Shouldn't conflict with SS-CW, and, I tried to
work around my own lack of preparedness in getting a meeting notice
out and CQWW-Phone the 26th. Sorry for the delay!

Elections will be held for club officers. Should you be interested in
a position, let Rick, Tom, or I know!

Programs! I don't have one yet. If you've got an idea, let me know.
I hate to show another video, but, we could certainly do that. I also
got to thinking that a round-the room where everyone briefly talks
about their first DX QSO, or, first meaningful QSO would be a bit
interesting, but, maybe not! It seems to much like a campfire game.
I'm open to suggestions.

I'd also be interested in any member news we could put in the next
newsletter. The pre-picnic newsletter was great. Has anyone done
anything interesting that they'd like to share?

WL Hamfest was last weekend. Weather was quite nice. A bit chilly
early on, but, no rain, and the sun was out and soon warmed things
up. I saw several members there, and, I managed to avoid purchasing
anything heavy. Picked up a nice roller inductor and an old
Handbook. Saw lots of stuff that I could have taken home with me,
but, was narrowly able to leave on the table. Some of it I talked
other people into buying so that I could avoid buying myself. It
worked well.

73,

=======================
  Hello all.

The decision has been made for the award of the 2009 Iowa Young
Amateur Operator Award. All three nominations were great and the
decision was a tough one. While it would have been good to select all
of them, it was decided that all will receive some recognition at the
West Liberty Ham Fest in October.

The winner for this year is KD0HFZ Joey Freeland of Central City,
IA. I would like to ask that the winner actually not find out
themselves until the hamfest and would like to ask each nominee to try
to be present at the ham fest in West Liberty as we do have a
presentation for all of them at that time.

Once again, congratulations to Joey.
