Weds/ 4:50pm Xmas Is time, Tues/9:50pm Ia Time

Old news: I guess we missed providing our summary score from CQWW: It
 was 646K points.

New news: Late this afternoon we returned from a wild blue-water
fishing trip. When we first got to the the lagoon where the outrigger
was, we found out that they don't have life preservers. I guess the
Kiribati form of OSHA does not exist here! But off went over the light
green lagoon and out into the blue.

Rod was the one to take the first strike and pulled out about a 20Lb
Yellow Fin tuna. He gave quite a fight but we had no idea that this
was just an easy one. We alternated so I took the second strike. It
broke the surface around 75 yards out. About half an hour later, arms
cramping from pulling on the rod so long, I landed a 57", 60Lb Wahoo.
 Wahoo!

Rod, not to be outdone, locked onto another yellow fin tuna. That one
took nearly 45min to land and was a whopper at over 90Lbs and 53"
long! When we got it on the boat, we saw that the swivel was unlatched
 and about to break off!

After that I landed another 57" Wahoo, but it "only" weighed around
 45Lbs.

One of the stranger moments was when Rod locked onto a Wahoo and it was
fighting pretty hard. Rod looked up and it broke the surface. He said
it was giving up. Well, it gave up alright. What happened was that we
actually caught it behind the gills and a shark came along and chomped
off it's head. No wonder it stopped fighting! Rod still managed to
 land it sans his head.

We caught about 6 more tuna that ran about 15Lbs each... and our guide
pulled in a little jack tuna.

Hey Dave J: Please forward this to First Mate Joe as I think this trip
 qualifies us as "hardcore" fishermen!

Anyway, I guess we know what we will be having for dinner tonight. 8-)

Last night I worked W0SM, WB8ZRL, KC0VKN, and K0JGH. Please pass along
to Glenn that his signal was 447. ie it had no clear tone to it. We
couldn't try 30m at 0300z due to the generator died here.

We pack up our Thurs AM, your Weds AM and fly to HNL. Arrival in HNL is
midnight CR time. Back in CR Friday AM.

73's

Tom & Rod
