[EIDXA] 40M noise level

With some more investigation the noise covers all of 40M and all of 80M and
I don't hear it on 20.  When I travel Blarferry road between Viola Gibson
school and the new Baptist church it is seems very loud it drop off
considerably after those two locations,  wonder if a newly installed bug
catcher could make this noise...But it travels over a pretty large area an
stays strong and then quickly drops off to zero..

What kinds of tools do I need to do a better job of location the source??

Over the last two days I have noticed a sizeable increase in the noise on 40
meters.  The noise at my QTH (NE Cedar Rapids) is a solid S-9 and at times
higher.  I am wondering if others might have noticed this as well.  Seems
that it is man made and not atmospheric.

 

Any reports from any one would be informative.
