An Overview for Amateur Radio Operators

Mike Martin, K3RFI, is in town conducting a workshop (see 
www.rfiservices.com) designed to teach utilities how to locate and eliminate 
power line interference. He has volunteered to provide area amateurs an 
overview of the state of the art in this important area including:



            What causes power line generated RF interference.

            What the ham can do to help utilities identify the problems.

            How the modern professional isolates interference complaint 
sources.

            Some misconceptions about interference.

            A safety point of view.



Mike Martin, owns and operates the RFI Locating & Training firm called RFI 
Services. He has been locating interference sources; training and consulting 
Power Companies, Cable TV and Telephone service providers full time for over 
20 years and solves hundreds of interference complaints a year. Mike is 
multi-licensed by the FCC and considered to be the most experienced 
Interference Investigator in the country.



DIRECTIONS

Park in level 3 or 4 of the parking ramp behind St Luke's Hospital,1026 A 
Avenue NE, Cedar Rapids. The auditorium entrance is at the north end of the 
parking ramp.
