       CEA Approves Powerline Broadband
Gives hearty thumbs up to untested tech

Eager to sell consumers "more stuff"(T), the Consumer Electronics
Association (CEA) this week gave their full support for broadband over
powerline (BPL) technology, not once mentioning the fact that interference
from the technology could disrupt the "stuff" consumers already have. Like
FCC Commissioner Powell, who calls the technology the "great broadband
hope", the CEA believes BPL is the missing link needed to bring broadband to
the un-wired masses. This week the ARRL urged the FCC to avoid rushing
toward BPL deployment on HF, calling it "a mistake, purely and simply."
